Food Storage Friday: Buying in Bulk

by Melissa on August 21, 2009

There are a lot of ways you can get food storage. Some work well for some, some work better for others. For us, the best way we have been able to do it is buy what we use but buy a lot when it is on sale. I cook a lot from scratch everyday so we use our food storage in our meals and replenish it regularly. For others buying a bulk supply is the way to go.

If you think buying in bulk is the way to go, there are a few ways you can do this. You can buy individual items prepackaged for storage in #10 cans or other type of storage container. You can also Buy prepackaged, pre-prepared meals for 1 month, 3 months, 1 year ect. This type os storage is actually useful to you as you can buy it and store is and slowly work it into your meals so it stays rotated.

I was recently contacted by Launey at http://foodstoragdepot.com .  He wanted to let me know about his site and wanted to offer my readers a special discount rate of 10% off your orders.  This site is mainly focused on this type of bulk food storage that you buy in month or year supplies.  These meals are already set up so you just have minor preparations for them.  To put in the order with them, you just click on the link and decide what you want and then use the code SSDISCOUNT at checkout to get your 10% off.

I asked him about if in the future he is going to offer separate items rather them full meals for a month and he said that they are working getting that set up.  so if you don’t see anything you are interested in right now, be sure to check back periodically for when that starts.

Like I said, this method isn’t for everyone though, you need to find what fits with your family and lifestyle.  It is just important to have your storage and be sure you keep it rotated so you aren’t waiting your money!
