Split Pea Soup Recipe on a Budget
Serves: 8-10
  • 1 lb of Dried Split Peas
  • 1 onion Chopped
  • Carrots; cut into slices or chunks (however many you would like in the soup)
  • Potatoes cut into pieces (however many you would like in the soup)
  • Ham to taste
  1. Open package of peas and sort to be sure there are no rocks or other items in them.  Wash and cover with water and let soak overnight.
  2. In the morning drain water and refill adding cubed ham and boil for 1 hour (could be up to 3 if you did not soak overnight).  Add onion and cook for 30 mins.
  3. Add Carrots and cook for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Add potatoes and cook until soft.  Add Salt and pepper as needed for taste.
  5. Enjoy!!!!  This is great with grilled cheese or rolls or biscuits.
